What Buyer Activity Tells Us About the Housing Market

Homebuyers are once again on the rise, and despite a slower market than last year, there is still plenty of activity in the housing sector.

With a 62% increase over December’s numbers, January was an exceptional month for showings. This jump marked one of the biggest on record since May last year and can be attributed largely to low mortgage rates. The graph indicates that early-year activity is typical; however, this surge in production has been higher than average compared with previous years’ data.

January’s surprising surge in showings provided a much-needed boost to the market after last year’s slowdown. With mortgage rates playing an integral role, buyers have regained their confidence and are preparing for the spring selling season with eagerness. This could be indicative of a very active housing sector as we move through 2021!

It looks like potential buyers are actively responding to low mortgage rates. This emphasizes the importance of consistent monitoring for lenders and other stakeholders – when favorable financing is available it’s essential to take advantage quickly as eager consumers pounce on these opportunities.

January has proven to be an exciting month for buyers and sellers alike, with a surge in house showing activity! If you’re ready to start your next chapter but haven’t put your home on the market yet – don’t wait any longer.
